Oblakovo – a village in the Municipality of Bitola whose atar rises to the crest of the Oblakovska Mountain, in the vicinity of the city of Bitola.
Oblakovo is located about 22 km northwest of the city of Bitola, near the Streževo reservoir. The village is located at an altitude of 922 m. The village can be reached by the road that leads to Streževsko Lake, a road that passes by the villages of Kukurečani, Dragožani, Sekirani and Gabalavci. From the village of Gabalavci to Oblakovo is reached by an uphill dirt road 5 km long. Oblakovo is one of the villages that belong to the group of Upper Polish villages, which include: Snegovo, Gorno Srpci, Bratin Dol, Gjavato, Lera, Ramna and others.
Oblakovo used to be called Staro Selo and was located on the opposite side of the mountain. The inhabitants of Staro Selo had to leave the village because infectious diseases were spreading in it, the number of sick and dead increased day by day, so the residents decided to leave that village and build a new village under the clouds, which is where its name comes from. A cloud that still exists today. During the Ottoman Empire, Oblakovo was a komite nest and participated with its komites in the fight against the Turkish army, which was in the vicinity of Bitola and Demir Hisar. One of the biggest tragedies of the village happened at that time when ten komites from the village were killed in an ambush near the Demirxisar village of Slepce together with komites from the surrounding villages. During the Balkan wars, various armies came to Oblakovo, such as Serbian and Bulgarian. In the Second World War, this area mostly belonged to the Bulgarian occupier, and a Bulgarian teacher was brought to the village, who taught the young people to speak the Bulgarian language and that they were Bulgarians, not Macedonians, but Macedonia never died. Oblakovo also had participants in NOB (National Liberation Struggle) who advocated for a free Macedonia. Later, during communism, a large part of the villagers left the village and moved to nearby cities or went to overseas countries such as Australia and the United States.
In the 19th century, Oblakovo was a purely Macedonian village in the Bitola Kaza of the Ottoman Empire.
