Galichnik – a village in the Municipality of Mavrovo and Rostushe, in the area of Mala Reka. It is located on the slopes of Mount Bistra, in the center of the Mijak region. Galicnik is a tourist attraction due to its authentic architecture, rich cultural heritage and amazing landscapes.
It is located on the slopes of Mount Bistra, in the heart of the region of Mijak region, in the area of Mala Reka, 16 km from Mavrovo and Mavrovo Lake and 12 km from the ski center “Zare Lazareski”. The nearest urban settlement to the village is the town of Gostivar, which is 45 kilometers away. It is located at an altitude of 1270 to 1500 meters and is surrounded by pastures. It is known for the “Galichnik Wedding Festival”, a traditional and public summer wedding, which takes place every year on the village’s feast day – St. Peter’s Day. During the wedding, the “Teshkoto” dance is performed – symbolizing the difficult life in the region.
