Karaorman – a medium-high mountain stretching in western Macedonia. The name of the mountain comes from the Turkish words kara – black and orman – forest. It stretches in a north-south meridian direction, between the valley of Crn Drim in the west and the valleys of Pesočanska Reka and Sateska in the east. The highest peaks are Rzhanski Rid (2,145 m), Alipašica (1,888 m), Lisec (1,755 m), Orli Vrv (1,794 m). It is quite forested, which is why it got its name. Karaorman was formed by folding during the Tertiary and together with the Stogovo mountain it represents a whole that stretches like a ridge with a formed synclinal block in the form of a horst. The geological composition is represented by crystalline shale, while on the higher parts there are limestones. In the north-south direction, the mountain ridge gradually descends into the Ohrid-Struga Basin.
