Jablanica – a high mountain in the southwestern part of Macedonia, between the Ohrid-Struga and Debar valleys, west of the river Crn Drim and the shores of Lake Ohrid.

Jablanica is the second largest mountain in the western Sharr region. The Macedonian-Albanian border stretches along the ridge of the mountain, with the eastern slope being in Macedonia, and the western slope of the mountain lying in Albania. The mountain ridge is higher than 2,000 m by approximately 50 km, and the highest part, located in the very center of the mountain, is 2,257 m high. The highest peak is Crn Kamen, with 2,258 m. Peaks higher than 2,000 m are: Strizak (2,233 m), Krstec (2,186 m) and Chumin Vrv (2,125 m).

The mountain can be reached through the village Vevchani which is located at the foot of the mountain, but also through Gorna Belica (recommended route). It is 14 km away from Lake Ohrid and the city of Struga. The eastern mountainous sides belong to Macedonia, and the western to Albania. It stretches in a meridian direction from north to south with a mountain length of about 35 km, and the largest width in Macedonia is 7.5 km. On the Macedonian side it covers an area of 255 km2.

This is a young wreath mountain, formed by tectonic movements. The geological composition is represented by Paleozoic shales that are in the slope, and through them lie Triassic limestones. The relief is dominated by high peaks, spacious areas, deep river valleys, karst and fossil glacial forms. During the ice age, the highlands were affected by intense glaciation. The traces of glaciation are represented by five fossil circuses in which there are four glacial lakes: Vevchansko, Podgorsko and Gorno and Dolno Labunishko.
