Rouen – the highest peak of the Osogovo Mountains with a height of 2,252 meters. The peak is located on the very border between the Republic of Macedonia and Bulgaria, and is part of the 100 national tourist facilities of Bulgaria.

The ascent of Rouen peak can be done from two directions, one of which is from the direction of Kochani via Ponikva to Tsarev Vrv, on which there are no markings. The trail first takes you down to the “Ajduchka Cheshma” waterfall, which is the lowest point of the trail, then the ascent to Rouen begins, which takes about 2 hours in total from Tsarev Vrv.

Another direction is through the “Toranica” mine. When going from Kriva Palanka towards Bulgaria, before reaching the border, turn right towards the “Toranica” mine, which is 18 km away from Kriva Palanka. From the mine you can climb directly to Rouen peak, although there are no markings, but an easier option is to climb in the direction of the saddle between Tsarev Vrv and Rouen and then go to the summit.
