Kabash – a peak in the central part of the main ridge of the stretch of Mount Korab, in the Republic of Macedonia. Its height is 2,391 meters.

It is located in the central part of the mountain on the mountain branch that runs long on its eastern slope, belonging completely and deeply to Macedonian territory. Kabash peak represents the penultimate, fourth mountain peak of the mountain branch that starts and flows eastward from Boazi peak on the main ridge. According to the location of Kabash peak, it is located at the coordinates 41°45’21” north latitude and 20°34′ 11″ east longitude, northwest of the village of Ribnica. More specifically, the Kabash peak is located immediately to the south above the valley of Dlaboka Reka, from where it has a particularly remarkable view that, with its sharp pointedness, prevails with its recognition that dominates the space. It is characterized by a very large steepness and pointiness, and its steep southern and northern slopes are interspersed with very steep grassy couloirs and rocks that reach the very top, while to the east it is connected to the peak Ribnika Skala, and to the west with the peak Crven Kamen (Guri Kuj). The beautiful “alpine” scenery and the great steepness of its slopes, which make it quite difficult to climb even in summer, and especially in winter conditions, give a special attraction to Kabash, which, together with the peak of Ribnica Skala, are two of the most attractive among mountaineers and climbers. frequently visited and especially famous mountain peaks of Korab and in Macedonia. An iron cross is placed on the highest point of the peak itself, from where a beautiful view of the three highest Korap peaks, Golem and Mal Korab and Malokorapska Stena, as well as the entire eastern slope of the Korap massif is offered.

Kabash peak can be approached and climbed with great care (and difficulty) from both the southern and northern slopes.

The most common is the ascent along the very steep northern slope with a grassy couloir between the rock blocks, turning left from the “observatory” in the village of Skalila on a well-marked hiking trail that leads to the famous Korapski waterfall, passing along the eastern and northern sides of the foothills below the peak of Ribnika Skala from the Praluga pass and the penetration of the Deep River valley.

The shortest path and approach for climbing Kabash, which is very little or almost unknown, is from the southern side with a length of 6 kilometers in the direction starting from the village of Nivishte. Crossing a valley with a stream above the village, you enter and pass through the dense beech Kabashka Forest, from where you come out on the ridge that stretches and ends right at the very top, which is quite steep and surrounded by rocks, where extreme caution is required when passing through the southern couloir, in which, in addition to the exceptional steepness (with a slope of up to 65°), one has to climb with a careful grip to pass 2 meters through a stone cut between 2 smaller rocks, but in addition, from this couloir to the very top, access is offered along an almost completely grassy path terrain. For a safer ascent through this area, steel wires – cables for adherence (and a partial possibility of walking with a rope – via ferrata) have been placed in 2 sections, namely: in the couloir on the south side under the peak of Kabash on a vertical steep cut between the rocks with a length of 30 meters and at the turn to enter the couloir from the crest of the southeastern ridge below Kabash on a slanted slope horizontally for a length of 20 meters. The steel wires-cables for adherence were placed in September 2021 as part of the marking of the path from the village of Nivishte by PSD “Transverzalec” for the mountaineering action of the Mountaineering Challenge “12 Peaks”.
