Derza (also known as Dreja, meaning Strawberry from Albanian Dredhëza) – a peak in the central part of the main ridge of the stretch of Mount Korab, in the Republic of Macedonia. Its height is 2,403 meters.
It is located in the central part of Mount Korab on the main ridge, in close proximity to the border line between Macedonia and Albania. According to the location of Derza peak, it is located at coordinates 41°43’55” north latitude and 20°31’26” east longitude. It is located on the main ridge of the Korab mountain range, between the peaks Crn Kamen (2404 m.) and Shupla Stena (2431 m.) immediately to the south and the pass Ciganski Premin (Ciganski Prohod) (2305 m.) to the north. It is distinguished by a very magnificent view, where the Derza peak itself is presented as a very sharp and pointed rock peak, with a rounded rocky outcrop resembling a strawberry on the highest part, which is probably why it got the name Derza, which in the Albanian language Dredhëza means strawberry. The ascent to Derza peak is very difficult because its slopes are very steep, with the southeastern one being more grassy, and the northern and western ones being stony and earthy where there is a risk of slipping. The highest point on the top is very narrow, and there is only room for a maximum of 4 people to stand on it. Derza Peak can be climbed by a well-trodden border trail that leads and skirts it along its southern, eastern and northern slopes, and the best climbing opportunity is on the grassy south-eastern slope between Derza and Crn Kamen. In its immediate vicinity, on the same mountain ridge defined by the Shkrtec and Tsiganski Prohod passes, with Derza are the pointed sharp peaks Crn Kamen and Shupla Stena, which is why, viewed from several places from a distance, those three peaks give a particularly beautiful “alpine”-like view.
