Jakupica – Mokra Mountain, when we write about this beautiful mountain, always with great attention and respect. Honestly, Jakupica has a special place in our mountaineering hearts, and the reasons are many: within reach of Skopje, unexplored and magnificent, magical ..

And it is true: Solunska Glava is one of the few peaks above 2000 m. which can be climbed by bike (MTB). For that, you still need to be fit, a well-prepared bike and good planning and preparation. That’s why we are here to help you :)

And before you embark on this multi-day adventure, we recommend: 3-4 times (weekends) MTB drive from Panorama to peak Krstovar on Vodno with your bike and timely reservation in the mountain hut Karadzica. You can find contacts from the mountain hut below in the footer on the site kajak.mk.

Day 1: Skopje – Mountain Hut Karadzica

For the more prepared, 45 km. are not so scary to ride in 1 day, but there is another possibility: The road from Gorno Kolichani to Crvena Voda is freshly paved and if you come by car and bicycles on the roof (taxi is also possible), then you have 22 km left from Crvena Voda to the mountain hut Karadzica. The section from Crvena Voda – Preslap (here the road to PD Kitka splits) – Vila Prince (fish restaurant) is partly asphalt, partly dirt road with significant damage to the road but for a good MTB bike, riding can be a pleasure. From Crvena Voda to the Vila Prince we drive a total of 11 km and climb approximately 500 m. height difference, and here we make our first break.

After the break we have another 13 km ahead of us and an altitude difference of approximately 500 m. from Vila Prince, through the weekend settlement Mala Reka, village Aldinci and finally the mountain hut Karadzica with by far the most beautiful mountain location in Macedonia.

Day 2: Mountain Hut Karadzica – peak Solunska Glava

We are sure that the views from the mountain hut to the mountain massif will force you to rest and stay overnight for at least one day. The location is magical and the stay in the mountain hut is obligatory. After resting for 1 day (and we could do more), we head to the top of Solunska Glava, along a dirt road. We have 20 km ahead of us driving and climbing at 1220 m. altitude difference, but it is nothing compared to the rewarding views and landscapes that follow us along the route to the top.
