Due to the special natural beauties and the characteristic flora and fauna of the forests and forest areas on the mountain Galichica, a larger part of it, on an area of 22,750 hectares, in 1958 was declared a national park. Galichica National Park, which is located in the extreme south-western part of Macedonia, is characterized by its position between the two largest lakes in the country – Ohrid and Prespa.

The lowest point is the level of Lake Ohrid 695 meters above sea level and the level of Lake Prespa 850 meters above sea level, and the highest peak Magaro 2255 meters above sea level. The mountain Galichica has a developed relief with deep valleys and steep slopes towards the two lakes. Due to the relief characteristics, the only massif of Galichica is divided into four separate parts.

The part south of Zli Dol is called Stara Galichica. It is the highest and most striking relief part of the national park. Its sides are steeply cut towards the lakes and are ridged with ravines that give the mountain the appearance of inaccessibility. In its central part, a wide plateau has been formed with an altitude of more than 2000 m. Almost all surface karst forms are present on it. South of here, the massif continues to Suva Gora in Mala Prespa on the territory of Albania.

To the north of it is the part Galichica. The highest peak Vakoski Gnoj has a central position and height of 1999 m. In this part the width of the mountain is the smallest (9.75 km). The slopes towards Lake Ohrid are steep and similar to those from the previous part, while the eastern slopes descend slightly towards Lake Prespa. The plateau in the central part is at an altitude of about 1400 m. and four karst fields are formed on it.

The rest of the meridian massif is divided into two parts, Petrino which gravitates towards the Ohrid and to the east towards the Prespa Valley.
